Dear Johkula residents, summer residents and passers-by,
welcome to the Municipality of Johkula. I'm Sami Hänninen, and I have been Municipal Manager since 2016.
Johkula has about 4,800 residents, and in winter many times more visitors. That means we have to be good at two things at once: being a good home municipality and a good destination. I believe they support each other. When the ski bus runs, the trails are groomed and you can borrow snowshoes from the library, it is good for residents and guests alike.
Our tax rate is zero, early childhood education is free, building permits come in a day and you charge your electric car for free. I know it sounds too good to be true. People often ask what the catch is. My answer: everything here is built to work together. Venues are booked online, tourism businesses' products are in one place and information flows without paper.
