Johkula School is a comprehensive school for grades 1–9 with about 420 pupils, at Koulutie 5 in the village, within walking distance of the sports hall, library and beach.
What makes it special
- Outdoor sports on Lake Johku and Johku Fell: skating, skiing, paddling and hiking are part of every grade's curriculum.
- Pupils in grades 7–9 get to know local tourism businesses during work experience.
- School meals are cooked in the school's own kitchen with fish from Lake Johku and produce from nearby farms.
School transport
Pupils from Koskikylä and Jänkälä are transported free of charge.
Morning and after-school activities
For grades 1–2, mornings 7–8 and afternoons 12–17, free of charge.
The school gym can be booked by associations and residents on weekday evenings and Saturdays.
