Housing and Environment

In Johkula you live by a lake, a river and a fell. The village has a shop, library, school, daycare, health centre and railway station within walking distance. Koskikylä by the Johku River and Jänkälä in the north offer roomier village living.

Moving in

Register your move with the national population register as usual. At the municipal office you get a welcome bag with a map, a library card, beach opening hours and a Johkula reflector donated by Visit Johkula. Once your move is registered, join the Residents collection and the ski bus is free and municipal venues are at resident prices.

Rental homes

Municipal rental homes are managed by the municipal property unit. Vacancies are listed here and you can apply online. The average wait in the village is about two months.

Road maintenance

Ploughing starts when 5 cm of snow has fallen. The municipality opens the ice road across Lake Johku when the ice is at least 40 cm thick.

EV charging

EV charging is free everywhere in Johkula, for residents and visitors. Public chargers are at the municipal office and railway station car parks, Johkula-talo and the village harbour, and also at Johku Resort and the Johku Ski base station. You can book a charging spot online for free.

Note: This is a Johku demo shop. Bookings are examples and will not be delivered.
