In Johkula, early childhood education is free for every child, regardless of income, family size or hours, and no income form is needed. The council decided this in 2019, and nobody has proposed a change.
Daycare centres
- Kuikka daycare, Koulutie 3, village. 4 groups, 72 places. Mon–Fri 6–18.
- Koskikirppu daycare, Koskikylä, in the yard of Johku Vanha Koulu. 1 group, 18 places. Mon–Fri 7–17.
- Shift care at Kuikka for parents working in tourism, 5–23 including weekends in the winter season (Nov–Apr).
How to apply
Apply online at least two weeks before care is needed. In urgent cases, for example a job starting suddenly at the start of the season, we arrange a place within a week.
Pre-school is at Kuikka daycare and Johkula School; registration in January.
