In Johkula, free time is spent on the lake, on the fell and at Johkula-talo. The municipal leisure services run the library, sports hall, outdoor sports areas, beach and youth centre, and support local associations.
- Library – Kirkkotie 6. Borrow books, snowshoes, poles and SUP boards.
- Johkula Sports Hall – sports hall, gym and climbing wall.
- Johkula-talo – cultural centre with festival hall, meeting room and Johku Teatteri's winter season.
- Village beach – lifeguarded swimming June–July 11–18, next to Johku Wake.
- Trails – 42 km of lit and groomed ski trails in winter, nature trails to Johku Fell and along the Johku River in summer.
- Youth centre Pesä – open Tue–Fri 15–21.
Local associations can apply for grants twice a year. Johkula associations are added to the Residents collection, so they book venues at resident prices, and sports slots for children and youth are free for everyone.
